Sparking Everyday Action at Travel Counsellors' Earth Day Workshop

Sustainability Workshop

When Travel Counsellors approached us to support their Earth Day workshop, Sustainability Manager Joseph Whittle had one clear request:

"No lectures. No slides. No death by PowerPoint."

Instead, he wanted something genuinely different, an experience designed not just to inform but to inspire meaningful change at a personal level. The aim was to shift from corporate sustainability speak to individual actions and reflections, sparking genuine conversations among participants about everyday sustainable living.

The Solution: Glocal Impact Changemakers

Our response was Glocal Impact Changemakers, an immersive, serious game crafted to engage, energise, and empower participants.

Set within a fictional neighbourhood, players were tasked with collectively guiding their community toward a sustainable future. Their decisions covered everyday actions such as:

  • Travel Choices: Evaluating transport options and their environmental impacts.
  • Citizen Habits: Discussing fast fashion, managing waste, and energy use.

Crucially, the game wasn't about prescribing right or wrong choices, it was designed to stimulate dialogue, foster collaboration, and deepen personal insights into how everyday decisions contribute to systemic change.

The Experience

Participants engaged actively, bringing their real-life experiences into the discussions, sharing personal practices around shopping, commuting, and family life. The interactive format created a dynamic, safe space to explore complexity, debate viewpoints, and realise the interconnected nature of their daily actions.

The unique mix of relatable themes, interactive debate, and collaborative problem-solving ensured the session was meaningful, memorable, and motivating, all delivered in an hour.
